Not all students communicate when they are struggling with learning. Monitoring their behaviors can help you understand if they are struggling and if additional assistance from a tutor is needed. A few signs to look for include: a decline in grades, a lack of motivation in school, a struggle to initiate and complete academic tasks, a lack of organization, a lack of self-confidence, a struggle in a specific subject, and a suspicion of a possible learning disability.
Additionally, you may want to monitor the behavior of your student who is academically ahead of their peers at school. In such cases, higher achieving students may exhibit boredom or lack of engagement in differentiated learning instruction on their level. Tutoring may be beneficial and offer opportunities to explore new topics and enhance learning to the next level.
